A Crew Plans for Exor 3467

Captain: Alright boys and girls, listen up. Today’s target is Exor 3467, a possible jackpot, though the initial probe readings of activity are over a year old. We’ll have visual confirmation in about 12 hours.

Pilot: 24.

Capital: What?

Pilot: 24 hours.

Capital One: Oh…right. 24 hours. [beat] Anyway, rumors say this LZ might be hot. Can “Anthro” confirm?

Geo/Anthro: Anthro confirms. Unfortunately, another ship we’ve been tracking for vaporized by their defenses, about a week ago. Stories from the Exoro tribes indicate a short temper for strangers…

Engineer: Well, that sounds familiar…

Geo/Anthro: But there’s no proof that it was even them. Could be bandits holdin’ up there, trying to fend off the competition.

Captain: Don’t matter much who’s doing the shooting, people. Lancer, are we set on ammo and equipment?

Comm/Soldier (Lancer): Locked and loaded, cap’n. It’s no fun if the targets don’t run. [locks pilot slide with swift one-hand motion]

Captain: Yeah…thanks for the poetry lesson, but plan to keep all weapons out of sight unless I say otherwise. We’re peacekeepers, remember?

Lancer: Yes, sir…

Med/Bio: You brought THAT to dinner? (points at Lancer’s gun)

Lancer: Yes, ma’am! You wanna hold it?

Med/Bio: You just have so many layers. (Lancer winks)

Captain: Gwen, should we land in one piece, will there be air for us to breathe?

Med/Bio (Gweneth): There’s a good possibility, though please take your nitro-adaptive supplements. Even though the old reports define the population as carbon-based life-forms, the planet’s size and terrain indicate a heavier nitrogen content than liver function can support. We’ll probably want air tanks ready…

Captain: Sounds good. ‘Eco’, do you confirm?

Eco: But of course, Gweneth knows her stuff. Tell me though, O’ Captain, my captain: what does the Order want us to do if we find them?

Captain: Data: real estate and neighborhood stats. They’re looking to move in soon.
